Description

Ratafia del Pirineu made with the maceration of tender nuts and the distillation of 21 aromatic plants, roots and spices following an ancient Catalan family recipe. Ratafia, which is produced in Catalonia (and also in some parts of Aragon), was already present in medieval times and was taken as a digestive liqueur. Its name comes from the Latin expression “rat fiat!”, Which means: so be it !.
In France there is also a liqueur with the same name but its production is based on grapes, while the Italian version called Ratafià has more similarities with the Catalan version. Grandfather Esteve discovered this wonderful elixir during his tours of the western Catalan Pyrenees and, since then, his table has never lacked a bottle to crown each meal.
